Clean Up
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
As we grow in the natural, it becomes our responsibility to keep ourselves clean. When we were babies, our parents or whoever were responsible for taking care of us, washed us and clothed us. However, we came of age when we were taught to wash ourselves, brush our own teeth and put on our own clothing. If we read the New Testament closely, we will discover that as we grow up in the things of God, it becomes our responsibility to do the same things where our spiritual lives are concerned. God has given us the Scriptures and we are to use them, when necessary, to cleanse our own lives. The time comes not only when we should recognize sin, but also how to cleanse ourselves when we sin and learn how to keep sin out of our lives. We need to look more deeply into the responsibilities that the Father has given us and take our place as grown-up sons and daughters in His family.
