A Unified Church
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalm 133
Unity; oneness; agreement; harmony-we know what the Scriptures teach us about this being the will of the Father for the body of Christ. But how will we ever achieve it. I propose two things for you today. First of all, Jesus gave us a commandment in John 13:34, 35. If we would love and serve one another unselfishly the way that he served His disciples in John 13, He said that the world would know that we are His disciples. Secondly, if we would all individually and collectively set our sights on the finished work of Christ and our identification with Him, we would very easily see this as a focal point for unity. When we look at all the in Him, in Whom, with Christ, in Christ, etc. Scriptures, we would notice facts about our redemption and our union with God (and each other for that matter) that are absolutely impossible to pervert or misunderstand. By the Spirit of God, I challenge you today to look into this, commit to it and then spread the word to your brothers and sisters in Christ. Unity will be achieved!
Scripture reading: Ephesians 1:7-10; 4:1-32.
