DECEMBER 31: The Horizon of A Fresh Start

“And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words and true and faithful.” Revelation 21:5

Think about this: you are about to finish another year and step into a new one. It, by your estimation, may have been a great year. Or, it may have been one full of challenges and one that you would like to forget. Regardless of where you fit, you are on the horizon of a fresh start. There are new things in store: new victories, new challenges, new things to master, new things to experience and new glories to bring to God. I realize that our Scripture for today speaks of the New Heaven and the New Earth. However, in principle we must realize that we serve a Father Who desires freshness for His children (kainos, the Greek word used for new means fresh). We are the new creation; His mercies are new every morning; we are to put on the new man; we have been given a new commandment; so on and so forth. Glean from the past; learn from it. But afterward, fix your meditation on what is ahead-on the horizon-for the Father has so many new things for us to look forward to. Anticipate the goodness of God in this year that is on the horizon. Hallelujah!!!!!
