DECEMBER 3: In Due Time

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

Someone might ask the question, “Why should I walk in humility; there doesn’t seem to be reward in it for me? Others exalt themselves and everything seems to be fine for them.” Don’t allow yourself to be deceived. Humility is very important in the kingdom of God. As a matter of fact, the Father has built certain things into the ideal of humility that are for our good and blessing. One of them is this: that in due time the person who humbles himself will be exalted. You see my brothers and sisters, the Father wants you exalted. However, He doesn’t want you to try to do it for yourself; that is His responsibility. When we walk in humility, we are actually stating that we trust the Father to take care of us and we are relinquishing our desire to walk in pride. You see, when we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, we are under His covering. When the proper time comes (and He knows when that time is), that same hand that covered us in our humility is the same hand that changes position, gets underneath us and raises us up.
