DECEMBER 11

The Desire of An Infant

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby: if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” 1 Peter 2:1-3

A little baby instinctively knows when it is time to nurse and what he is looking for to nurse upon. The desire is innate; whether it is the milk from his mother’s breast or the nipple of a bottle. Spiritually speaking, we are to be the same way. We are to follow our inner instincts and be constantly feeding on the Word of God so that we may grow. Without the life giving milk, the babies’ growth and development will be stunted. Without the life that is in the Word our development as children of God will be stunted. Follow your instincts. When the desire for the Word rises within you, don’t squelch it; respond to it by getting your Bible and feeding on the Word or plug in a message of someone preaching the good Word of God that you can listen to. Whatever you do, respond to that inner desire for the Word; your growth is at stake.
